Phelan, California (July 29, 2021) – One of the two young girls who died in a Phelan crash that happened last week on Thursday afternoon has been identified as Ollie Hoffmann, 10, of Big Bear.

The deadly head-on collision occurred at around 6:13 p.m. Thursday, July 22, on Highway 18 near Johnson Road.

San Bernardino County Firefighters responded to the scene to find a white Ford Ranger truck and a black 2000 Subaru Impreza involved in the wreck and blocking the roadway.

Two passengers in the Subaru, Ollie and a 14-year-old girl, also of Big Bear, were pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency responders.

The male driver of the Subaru sustained major injuries while the female driver of the pickup truck and her passengers, two children ages 10 and 6, suffered injuries ranging from minor to major.

Three helicopters were dispatched to the scene to airlift the injured parties to out-of-area trauma centers.

Both vehicles acquired major damage.

No other details were available, but the California Highway Patrol is investigating.
