Maria Vasquez Seriously Injured in Fresno Collision at Jensen and Temperance Avenues

Fresno, California (July 29, 2021) – Maria Vasquez, 63, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly traffic collision in southeast Fresno on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The deadly collision happened at about 4:08 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the intersection of East Jensen and South Temperance avenues, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP said Luke Emil Alpoonarian, 26, of Fresno, was driving a Kia Forte westbound on Jensen Avenue when he allegedly ran a red light and broadsided a Toyota Highlander that was attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Jensen from southbound Temperance.
Deadly Car Crash in Fresno
Alpoonarian was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Vasquez, who was the driver of the Highlander, sustained major injuries and was also transported to the same hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
