Olivehurst Resident Dies in Roseville Crash on Interstate 80 near Taylor Road
Roseville, California (April 26, 2021) – A driver was killed when a box truck collided with a car Friday night on a freeway in Roseville, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly two-vehicle wreck happened at about 8:49 p.m. Friday, April 23, on Interstate 80 near Taylor Road.
According to the CHP, a Honda SUV was traveling eastbound Interstate 80 at approximately 70 miles per hour when, for undetermined reasons, the driver lost control and travel into the path of a box truck in an adjacent lane.
The driver of the box truck braked but could not avoid colliding with the Honda. Due to the impact, the Honda drifted onto the right shoulder and ignited a small grass fire.
The CHP said the box truck struck several trees after the collision.
Deadly Car Accident on Interstate 80 in Roseville
Bystanders reportedly pulled the driver from the wreckage of the Honda and provided life-saving measures until paramedics arrived,
Sadly, the driver, described as a 55-year-old Olivehurst resident, was declared dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the box truck did not suffer any injuries.
It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
The CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
