North San Juan, California (May 20, 2021) – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in North San Juan, Nevada County.

The accident was reported at around 3:34 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 on Highway 49 near New School Road West, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic incident log.

As per the CHP incident log, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle for unknown reasons on the roadway.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and treated the pedestrian who sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The name and condition of the victim were not immediately disclosed.

It is unclear whether the driver remained at or fled the scene after the crash. The vehicle was described as a Subaru Outback.

The highway was temporarily closed due to the wreck.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
