Baby Dies after North Hills Car Accident on West Nordhoff Street

North Hills, California (March 11, 2020) – A woman was arrested following a suspected DUI collision that left her baby dead and four other people injured late Monday night in North Hills, according to a police report.

The accident occurred shortly before midnight March 9, in the 15200 block of West Nordhoff Street.

According to police, a 23-year-old woman was driving a Toyota SUV eastbound on Nordhoff Street at a high rate of speed when she drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming black SUV. The impact sent the Toyota into parked cars.

Baby Dies, Mother Arrested after North Hills DUI Collision

The driver of the Toyota had 4-month-old twins and a 2-year-old child as her passengers. All four occupants were taken to a hospital with moderate-to-serious injuries, and one of the twins succumbed to his injuries. 

Police said the children may not have been properly strapped in their car seats.

The driver of the Toyota is expected to face charges of DUI.

The other motorist was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police are conducting an investigation into the wreck.
