Norco, California (July 10, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night at a Norco intersection, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The fatal crash happened at around 10:39 p.m. Friday, July 9, near the intersection of Hamner Avenue and 5th Street.

Authorities said the pedestrian, a 50-year-old woman, was walking eastbound on the roadway when, for an unknown reason, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro heading southbound on Hamner Avenue struck her.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Norco

Medical personnel responded to the scene and performed CPR on the woman. Despite life-saving measures, the woman did not survive her injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver involved did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. A short time later, the driver was located in the city of Corona.

Hamner Avenue, between 5th Street and 6th Street, was closed during the investigation and cleanup. It is still unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
