Nelson Velez-Segovia ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Compton Crash on Gardena (91) Freeway
Compton, California (October 12, 2019) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died after being hit by a vehicle Thursday morning in Compton as Nelson Velez-Segovia, 43.
The deadly accident happened at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday, October 10 on the Gardena Freeway near Wilmington Avenue.
According to the authorities, Velez-Segovia was riding his bicycle on the eastbound Gardena Freeway when he was struck by a 2018 Toyota driven by a 51-year-old, who was traveling at approximately 55 mph.
Velez-Segovia was declared dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
