Merced, California (January 4, 2019) – The Merced County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist Friday evening in Merced as Natalia Wood, 50, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 28 in the area of 18th and G streets.

The local news source reported that for an unknown reason Wood was hit by a small sedan at the intersection. The driver did not stop and fled the northbound on G Street without rendering aid to the pedestrian.

Firefighters along with medical personnel responded to the scene and found Wood left lying on the road with major injuries. She was then taken to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
