Winton Man Dies in Fatal Merced Motorcycle Accident on Santa Fe Drive at Avenue 2 Friday afternoon

Merced, California (September 20, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Merced Friday afternoon, according to a local news report.
The deadly accident happened on Santa Fe Drive at Avenue 2.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old woman was driving her car on the roadway when she made a stop at Avenue 2 and turned out in front of a 2016 Harley-Davidson that was traveling on Santa Fe Drive.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike upon the impact.
The rider, a man in his 30s from Winton, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The 61-year-old woman stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.
Authorities closed the roadway while they investigated the accident. Traffic was diverted on Franklin Road.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
