Moreno Valley, California (February 19, 2019) – A 14- year-old boy was critically injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Moreno Valley Saturday evening, according to a local news source.

The accident, which was reported at around 6:33 p.m. Saturday, February 16, happened in the 22600 block of Cottonwood Avenue.

As per the report, the teenager was hit by a 2000 Cadillac Escalade operated by Arevalo Garcia Eleazar, 33, of Moreno Valley.

Police along with the medical team responded to the scene and they found the teenager who was left with major injuries after the accident. The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital with severe head trauma.

Eleazar did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene. Authorities pieced together evidence and witness statements and were able to locate the suspect at his residence on Moreno Way a short time after.  

Eleazar was arrested at his home the same day after police used a search warrant to search his home and found the Cadillac Escalade containing crash damage. He was then booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of felony hit and run causing major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team.
