One Killed, Several Hospitalized after Monterey Crash on Highway 101 near Chualar

Monterey, California (February 27, 2019) – A male driver was killed and several others hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash on Monday morning in Monterey, according to a police report.
The collision took place at about 9:30 a.m. February 25, on Highway 101 south of Chualar.
The California Highway Patrol said a silver Jeep Cherokee driven by Jordan Navarro, 19, was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when he lost control. The Jeep hit the concrete median flipped in the air and landed in the northbound side, striking an Acura RSX, a Pontiac Grand Prix and a Saturn VUE.
The driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several other people were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
No further details on the crash were immediately released.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
