Modesto, California (April 5, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by multiple vehicles early Saturday morning near Modesto in Stanislaus County, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 99, just north of Highway 219, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Grover Beach man, was walking in the No. 3 lane when an SUV struck him.

The man was then hit by two other vehicles, including a semi-truck.

The man died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident.
