Michael Verdugo ID’d as Man Killed in Van Nuys Pedestrian Accident on Raymer Street

Van Nuys, California (November 5, 2020) – Michael Verdugo, 19, of Van Nuys, has been identified as the man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday night in Van Nuys, according to the coroner’s office.
The deadly pedestrian crash happened at about 9:06 p.m., on November 3, in the 15000 block of West Raymer Street.
Authorities said Verdugo was walking in the area when he ended up on the railroad tracks and was hit by Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train No. 796.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Verdugo dead at the scene.
None of the passengers or crew members aboard the train were injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
