Michael Tillman Hospitalized after Placerville Car Crash on Highway 50 near Ice House Road
Placerville, California (April 21, 2021) – Michael Tillman, 39, of Humble, was hospitalized after being involved in a deadly head-on collision in Placerville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash took place on Highway 50, just east of Ice House Road, on Thursday, April 15.
The CHP said a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Diane Martini, 45, of Ukiah, was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 when, for unknown reasons, the Jeep veered to the left across the double yellow line and into the opposite lane.
The Jeep then collided head-on with a westbound 2012 Volvo Tractor hauling a flatbed trailer, the CHP report states.
After the collision, the Jeep crashed into a guardrail while the big rig drifted into the right-hand shoulder of the highway and slammed into a dirt embankment before coming to a stop.
Deadly Car Crash on Highway 50 in Placerville
Tillman, who was the driver of the Volvo Tractor, was taken to Marshall Hospital for precautionary reasons.
Martini was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
