Coalinga, California (April 21, 2021) – At least one person was severely hurt in a traffic collision that took place Wednesday morning on a freeway in Coalinga, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on southbound 5 Freeway, just south of Jayne Avenue on-ramp.

As per the report, a silver 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe collided with a big rig for unknown reasons.

The driver of the Tahoe was briefly trapped inside the car but was able to get out.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to find at least one person with major injuries. The identity and condition of the victim remained unknown.

The report said there was large debris in the southbound lanes that needed to be removed.

The cause of the crash was not yet established at the time of the report, but an investigation is ongoing.
