43-Year-Old Man Killed in Merced County Motorcycle Crash near Trinidade Road

Merced County, California (April 3, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a traffic accident in Merced County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30 on Ashby Road, just west of Trinidade Road.
According to a local news source, Witnesses told authorities that Adrian Araujo, 29, of Merced, was driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota hauling a 2006 utility trailer on Ashby Road and tried to back the trailer on a driveway off Ashby Road.
As per the report, the pickup truck and trailer were perpendicular to the road during the driveway maneuver when a 1984 Honda motorcycle traveling westbound on Ashby Road approached the vehicle at an unknown speed.
The motorcyclist failed to notice the truck and struck the Dodge Dakota on the left front fender. The force of the impact ejected the rider from the bike onto the east lane of Ashby Road.

The rider, only identified as a 43-year-old Merced man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of relatives.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
