Merced, California (March 26, 2021) – A traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in Merced Thursday afternoon resulted in major injuries.

The March 25 crash happened in the 2000 block of Yosemite Parkway at about 2 p.m.

As per the Merced Police Department report, a motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Joseph Alexander in the afternoon hours for unknown reasons.

Alexander reportedly left the male victim laying in the roadway and escaped the scene eastbound on the Highway.

Merced Crash Results in Major Injuries

The man was hospitalized with major injuries sustained in the mishap.

Meanwhile, the hit-and-run suspect was later arrested in the area of Highway 140 and Dale Avenue on suspicion of hit-and-run after he admitted to having been involved in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
