Ernest Gilbert ID’d as Man Seriously Injured in Lake Cachuma Crash on Highway 154
Lake Cachuma, California (March 26, 2021) – Ernest Gilbert, 34, of Santa Barbara, has been identified as the man who was seriously injured in a Thursday morning head-on collision that killed a 39-year-old Ventura man in Lake Cachuma, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 3:55 a.m., on March 25, on Highway 154.
According to the officials, a 2001 Toyota, driven by the Ventura Man, was headed westbound on the highway when it made an unsafe turning movement and crossed the double yellow lines.
Unfortunately, the Toyota collided head-on with an eastbound 2017 Dodge, driven by Ernest Gilbert, 34, of Santa Barbara.

Sadly, Ventura Man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gilbert was extricated from his vehicles and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Traffic on the highway was stopped for several hours due to the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
