Stanton, California (April 23, 2021) – The woman who died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in Stanton has been identified as Melissa Duane, 38, of Anaheim.

At around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, emergency personnel responded to the 7600 block of Katella Avenue near Date Street to investigate the report of a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle.

The authorities said Duane was crossing Katella Avenue when she was hit by a sport-utility vehicle.

Deadly Stanton Pedestrian Accident on Katella Avenue

First responders arrived at the location and found Duane lying in the roadway. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel.

The involved driver was transported to a nearby hospital for a DUI test. At this time, it remains unknown if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.

Police closed Katella Avenue and Date Street following the accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
