Santa Clarita, California (February 22, 2021) – Melanie Flores, 24, of Los Angeles, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Santa Clarita, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office report.

The California Highway Patrol said the deadly accident transpired at around 2:23 a.m., on February 21, in the southbound lane of Antelope Valley (14) Freeway at Sand Canyon Road.

According to the CHP, a vehicle was traveling southbound on the freeway when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway and slammed into a metal beam guard rail.

The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to split in half.

Flores, who was in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details regarding the accident were immediately given.

The crash remains under investigation.
