Antelope Valley, California (April 22, 2021) –Meilani Abernath, 33, of Palmdale, was injured Monday night after being involved in a deadly single-vehicle rollover crash in Antelope Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal accident occurred at about 7:35 p.m., on April 19, on Big Pines Highway, just west of Largo Vista Road.

The CHP said a 2009 Ford was heading westbound on Big Pines Highway when the driver made an unsafe turn and veered onto the right shoulder of the highway.

The Ford then drifted to the left across the eastbound lane and went through a barbed-wire fence before rolling down an embankment.

Deadly Car Accident on Big Pines Highway in Antelope Valley

As the Ford was overturning, the driver, a 29-year-old Littlerock woman, was ejected from the vehicle. Sadly, she was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

According to the CHP, Abernath, who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle, was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played in the accident.
