Mauricio Millanarzate Injured in Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Hawkins Road in Denair
Mauricio Millanarzate Hospitalized after Denair Car Accident on Hawkins Road near Keyes Road
Denair, California (August 25, 2020) – Mauricio Millanarzate, 32, of Merced, has been identified as the driver who was injured Monday afternoon in a deadly accident east of Denair.
The fatal happened at around 3:45 p.m. Monday, August 24, on Hawkins Road, just north of Keyes Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Miguel Jimenez, 20, of Atwater, was driving a 1999 Acura coupe southbound on Hawkins Road when he crossed over the double yellow lines to pass a slower moving vehicle.
Jimenez’s Acura reportedly entered the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a northbound 2012 Ford pick driven by Mauricio Millanarzate, 32, of Merced.
After the collision, the Ford rolled over and landed onto its right side while the Acura came to a stop in the northbound lane.
Deadly Crash on Hawkins Road near Keyes Road in Denair
Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene while Millanarzate was transported to Oak Valley Hospital with minor injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The two vehicles sustained major damages in the collision.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
