Diether Zajac ID’d as Man Killed in Bakersfield Motorcycle Crash on Highway 178 near Vista Grande Drive

Bakersfield, California (August 25, 2020) – Diether Joseph Bereck Zajac, 41, of Sun City, has been identified as the man who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon near Lake Isabella in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The deadly accident transpired at about noon on August 24, on Highway 178, west of Vista Grande Drive.
According to the CHP, Zajac was riding his Honda motorcycle westbound on Highway 178 at a high rate of speed when he passed a car that was traveling westbound.
Zajac, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, crossed over the solid double yellow lines, lost control of his motorcycle, then overturned and was ejected onto the roadway, the officials said.
Zajac was transported to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
