Matthew Sherman ID’d as Person killed in Weott Crash on Highway 101 near Weott Off-Ramp
Humboldt, California (January 18, 2019) – The person who was killed Thursday afternoon in two-vehicle collision north of Weott in southern Humboldt has been identified as Matthew Kyle Sherman, 44, of Potter Valle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal wreck occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17 on Highway 101 near the Weott exit.
The CHP said Zechariah Alailefaleula, 20, of Redway, was driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra northbound on Highway 101 when for an unknown reason he veered into the southbound lane, where his vehicle collided with a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by Sherman.
Sherman was taken to St. Joseph Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Alailefaleula sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to a hospital.
No other details were immediately available.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
