Matias Rogers ID’d as 16-Year-Old Brentwood Boy Killed in Contra Costa County Crash on Sellers Avenue near Delta Road

Contra Costa County, California (June 16, 2021) – Matias Rogers, 19, of Brentwood, has been identified as the boy who was killed in a Wednesday evening head-on collision that left two other parties injured in Knightsen in unincorporated eastern Contra Costa County, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly accident happened at around 5:35 p.m. in the 4500 block of Sellers Avenue, just south of Delta Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Rogers was driving a white 2015 Acura TLX sedan southbound on Sellers Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he allowed the vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a northbound blue 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Discovery Bay man.
Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage upon the impact.

Sadly, Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek in critical condition.
The Ford driver was also taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries.
It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the collision.
