Carson, California (June 24, 2021) – The pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in the Carson area has been identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Martin Gonzalez, 33, of Wilmington.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 10:34 p.m. Monday, June 21 on the Harbor (110) Freeway near Carson Street.

Authorities said a vehicle hit Gonzalez for an unknown reason on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision prompted the officers to temporarily close all southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway at Carson Street. As of 2:28 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
