Maritza Joana Lara Wanted Following North Hills Car Accident That Killed 1, Left 4 Critically Injured at Haskell Avenue and Parthenia Street
North Hills, California (June 19, 2019) – Maritza Joana Lara, 27, of Van Nuys, is wanted by the authorities following a hit-and-run accident that killed a father and critically injured four others Sunday morning in North Hills.
The tragic accident happened at about 5:35 a.m. Sunday, June 16 in the 8700 block of North Haskell Avenue at Parthenia Street.
According to the authorities, Lara was driving a 2016 Lexus IS 250 northbound on Haskell Avenue when she failed to stop at a stop sign at Parthenia Street and crashed into the driver’s side of a blue, 2005 Nissan Murano that simultaneously entered the intersection heading westbound.
The driver of the Nissan, Francisco Hernandez Rivas, 48, of North Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Rivas’s car and three passengers in Lara’s car were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

Lara did not stop to render aid to the victims and fled the scene. She was identified as a suspect after investigators were able to speak with passengers from her car. The Authorities are seeking the public’s help in finding her.
Alcohol or drugs were suspected factors in the collision.
