Maria Curiel Killed in San Jose Pedestrian Collision on West San Carlos Street and Brooklyn Avenue

San Jose, California (February 26, 2020) – The woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday evening in San Jose has been identified as Maria De Jesus Lopez Curiel, 55, of San Jose, according to the authorities.

The incident was reported at around 7 p.m. February 22, on West San Carlos Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

San Jose police said Curiel and a man were hit by a 2018 Ford Focus as they were trying to cross the street in a crosswalk.

Maria Curiel Killed in San Jose Pedestrian Accident 

The two victims were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and Curiel was pronounced deceased shortly after.

The involved motorist stayed at the scene and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.

Police said alcohol or drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the collision.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
