Tulare County, California (June 23, 2021) – A two-car accident has claimed the life of a 41-year-old Hanford man and left a 54-year-old Visalia woman with injuries last week on Wednesday afternoon in Tulare County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash was reported at around 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 on Avenue 232, just east of Road 48.

The CHP said a 2002 Saturn, driven by the Hanford man, was heading eastbound on Avenue 232 at an unspecified speed when his vehicle swerved to the right and veered off the road onto the dirt and gravel shoulder.

The Saturn continued in an easterly direction back to the roadway and went across the eastbound lane. It then rotated about 90 degrees in a counter clockwise manner and traveled directly into the path of a 2014 Buick driven by Marci Blankenship, 54, of Visalia, who was going at about 55 mph.

The front of the Buick impacted with the left rear of the Saturn.  The impact of the collision caused the male driver of the Saturn to be ejected onto the roadway. The Saturn caught fire following the collision.
