One Killed in Manteca Bicycle Crash on South Main Street

Manteca, California (January 6, 2020) – A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving a hit-and-run driver late Sunday night in Manteca, according to the police.
The incident took place at about 11:15 p.m. January 5, in the 1100 block of South Main Street.
Police said officers responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle. The driver involved fled the scene after the incident.

Witnesses pulled the victim out of the road. Emergency crews performed CPR on the victim but were unsuccessful. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police were able to locate the driver and arrested him. The suspect, identified as Robert James, 36, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of DUI, hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
The incident is under investigation.
