Man Killed in Electric Scooter Accident at Seventh Street and Ohio Avenue in Long Beach

Long Beach, California (July 17, 2021) – A 32-year-old man died after being struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in Long Beach early Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened in the area of Seventh Street and Ohio Avenue at about 3:30 a.m.
The police said Humberto Mendez Chavez was driving a 2010 Ford Mustang westbound on Seventh Street when he struck the Long Beach man who was riding a VEO Electric Scooter.
The victim was transported to an area hospital who died while undergoing treatment.
The police established that Chavez was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license.
It was not immediately established if Chavez was cited or arrested.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
