San Jose, California (January 25, 2021) – A man was killed Monday afternoon in a traffic accident in San Jose, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash happened at around 2:05 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 87, just north of West Alma Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, the 62-year-old San Jose man was driving a silver Saturn northbound on Highway 87 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle, which drifted across all lanes into the center divider.

The Saturn then crashed into the back of a vehicle traveling in the No. 3 lane. After the impact, the Saturn slammed into a barrier and veered across all lanes before hitting a wall in the center median.

Deadly Car Crash on Highway 87 in San Jose

The Saturn driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, died at the scene. No other injuries were immediately reported.

It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident or the deceased driver was wearing his seatbelt.
