Man Killed, 2 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad

Carlsbad, California (April 5, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning multi-vehicle accident that killed a 23-year-old man and left two other parties injured in Carlsbad.

The deadly accident occurred at about 4:45 a.m., on April 4, on Interstate 5, south of Tamarack Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by the 23-year-old man, flipped over and crashed into the center divider.

Following the collision, the Hyundai spun out, re-entered the roadway, and came to a stop. Two other northbound vehicles struck both the Hyundai and the 23-year-old male driver.

Sadly, the 23-year-old male driver, who was either ejected or exited the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries and were aided at the scene.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
