Man Killed in Tulare County Pedestrian Crash on 18th Avenue near Idaho Avenue

Tulare County, California (January 27, 2021) – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday night in Tulare County, authorities said.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 9:34 p.m. on January 20, on 18th Avenue, south of Idaho Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Ford Fusion, driven by Raquel Cardenas, 49, of Exeter, was headed southbound on 18th Avenue when it struck the male pedestrian.
The male pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing at the time of night, was walking within the southbound lanes when the accident occurred, the officials said.
Cardenas reportedly observed the pedestrian walking within her lane and veered to the left in an attempt to avoid the pedestrian. Unfortunately, she was unable to avoid the pedestrian.

Sadly, the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The condition of Cardenas and her passenger, Martin Corona, 46, of Farmersville, was not immediately known.
It was not clear if intoxication was a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
