38-Year-Old Man Killed in Walnut Creek Car Crash on Interstate 680 near Treat Boulevard Off-Ramp

Walnut Creek, California (September 27, 2019) – A 38-year-old man from Hayward was killed early on Friday morning in a traffic accident in Walnut Creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened at about 2:00 a.m. on southbound Interstate 680 near the Treat Boulevard exit.
CHP said a dump truck and a Nissan Sentra driven by a male driver collided on southbound Interstate 680. The initial report indicated that the Nissan crossed on the opposite lanes and crashed into the back of the dump truck. Due to the impact, the Sentra flipped onto its roof, trapping the driver inside.

The solo male driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scène. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Tow trucks were dispatched to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles.
The crash caused the closure of lanes of southbound Interstate 680. As of 4:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
