Lydia Currier ID’d as Woman Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver Early Sunday in Hemet
Lydia Currier Fatally Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Sanderson Avenue in Hemet
Hemet, California (April 20, 2021) – Authorities have today released the identity of the woman who was fatally injured by a hit-and-run driver in Hemet early Sunday morning.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Lydia Currier, 35, of Hemet, was struck and killed by a vehicle at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, April 18, on Sanderson Avenue, just north of Fruitvale Avenue.
Authorities say Currier was either standing in or trying to cross the southbound lanes of Sanderson Avenue when a tan sedan struck her. The sedan fled the scene after hitting her.
Police officers responded to the scene and performed CRP on the patient before rushing her to Hemet Global Medical Center, where she was declared dead.
According to the police, witnesses described the hit-and-run driver as female. Details regarding the make and model of the suspect’s sedan were also not known.
Reportedly, about an hour before the crash, a female pedestrian, possibly Currier, was seen “jumping into traffic” about a block away east of where she was struck.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause.
