Merced County, California (May 19, 2020) – The Merced County Coroner’s Office has disclosed the name of a Hilmar High School student who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Delhi on Sunday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle crash happened at Bradbury Road and Clausen Road at about 4:30 p.m., May 17.

15-year-old Luke Mancebo was riding a 2002 Yamaha Trail motorcycle northbound on Flower Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a 2010 Kenworth semi-truck.

The intersection has two stop signs on Clausen and Flower Street, but none on Bradbury.

Mancebo, a resident of Turlock, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The authorities determined that Mancebo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

28-year-old Jonathan Calderon of Turlock who was driving the big rig was unhurt and remained at the scene of the accident.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
