Luis De La Cruz Villafuentes ID’d as Man Killed in Alpine Motorcycle Crash on Lyons Valley Road
Alpine, California (September 12, 2020) – The identity of the motorcyclist who died in a fatal crash late last month in Alpine has been released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Luis De La Cruz Villafuentes, 52, of San Diego, died in the accident that happened at around 1:43 p.m. Sunday, August 30, in the 21800 Block Lyons Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Villafuentes and his friend were riding their motorcycles northbound on Lyons Valley Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway.
Villafuentes’s motorcycle then crashed into a tree.
As a result of the crash, Villafuentes was thrown off the motorcycle and landed 20 to 50 feet down a dirt embankment.

Villafuentes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
