South San Francisco, California (February 10, 2021) – The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died early Saturday morning following a traffic accident in South San Francisco as Luis Bermudez, 55.

The deadly crash, which involved an electric bicycle, was reported to the authorities at around 3:37 a.m. Saturday, February 6 in the 600 block of Grand Avenue.

According to the authorities, Bermudez was riding an electric bicycle westbound on Grand Avenue when he crashed into a parked vehicle.

The impact caused Bermudez to be ejected onto the roadway. He was wearing a novelty helmet with no padding in it at the time of the accident, authorities said.

Man Dies After Crash Involving Electric Bicycle Early Saturday

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found Bermudez lying down in the roadway. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believed alcohol played a role in the accident.
