Lesther Deleon Killed in Collision at 11th Street and Rancho Vista Boulevard in Palmdale
Lesther Deleon ID’d as Lyft Driver Killed in Palmdale Collision at North 11th Street and West Rancho Vista Boulevard
Palmdale, California (June 9, 2021) – The Lyft driver who was among two people that died in a fiery accident early Wednesday morning near the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale has been identified as Lesther Deleon, 27, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. in the area of North 11th Street West and West Rancho Vista Boulevard.
Authorities said a Dodge Challenger was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area when it rear-ended a Toyota Corolla driven by Deleon, before colliding with a light pole.
The Toyota burst into flames after the collision.
Lesther Deleon Among 2 Killed in Palmdale Crash
Deleon and his passenger, Spechelle Pope, 28, were both killed in the incident.
The driver of the Challenger abandoned the vehicle at the scene. The suspect entered an Infiniti that left the scene before authorities arrived.
The intersection was closed for several hours as authorities examined the scene.
Street racing was suspected to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.
The incident remains under investigation.
