Hemet, California (August 25, 2020) – Authorities have identified the homeless man who died after being struck by a vehicle early Monday morning in Hemet as Landis Gibbs, 31.

The deadly crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, on Domenigoni Parkway near Rarren Road.

The authorities said Gibbs was walking the shoulder of Domenigoni Parkway when he was struck by a vehicle.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Domenigoni Parkway in Hemet

Gibbs was found lying on the north shoulder of the four-lane corridor. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

The driver involved did not stop to render aid to Gibbs and fled from the scene. The suspect vehicle was described as dark in color.

Domenigoni Parkway was closed between Warren and Sanderson Avenue for four hours as authorities investigated the accident.

Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.
