Stanislaus County, California (May 10, 2019) – The man who was killed early Wednesday morning in a traffic accident in the unincorporated area of Stanislaus County has been identified as Lance Ober, 50, of Studio City, according to authorities.

The deadly accident occurred at about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 on the Interstate 5 near Tracy.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Ober was driving a 2018 Nissan on the Interstate 5 Northbound at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear of a Volvo tractor-trailer occupied by two unidentified men.

Ober sustained major trauma and was pronounced dead at about 12:58 a.m. at the scene by responding paramedics. The two men in the Volvo were not injured.

It’s undetermined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
