Perris, California (March 14, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday morning two-vehicle accident that killed a 25-year-old Lake Elsinore man and left a 52-year-old Lake Elsinore man with major injuries in Perris.

The deadly accident occurred at about 5:50 a.m., on March 13, on Highway 74.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2004 Honda Accord, driven by the 25-year-old Lake Elsinore man, was traveling the wrong way on the westbound side of the highway when it crashed into an oncoming 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. 

Both drivers were reportedly not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. And the driver of the Accord was suspected of having been intoxicated.

1 Killed and 2 Injured in Crash on Highway 74

Sadly, the 25-year-old Lake Elsinore man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Pathfinder, the 52-year-old Lake Elsinore man, was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center with major injuries.

One other person involved in the accident declined hospitalization.

Drugs or alcohol were suspected of having played a role in the mishap.

The crash remains under investigation.
