Two Hospitalized after La Jolla Car Crash on I-5 near Genesee Avenue
La Jolla, California (February 8, 2019) – Two people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle wreck involving a suspected DUI driver in La Jolla early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on I-5 near Genesee Avenue.
CHP said three cars were involved in the wreck. A female passenger in one of the cars had to be freed by the emergency crews. Her three dogs were also rescued by the firefighters.
The woman and a man driving the same car were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the second car was not injured.
CHP said the third driver allegedly fled the scene after the incident but was stopped about one mile from the site of the crash. The driver was evaluated for a possible DUI.
The crash remained under investigation.
