Field Worker Killed in Kings County Accident on State Route 198 Near 28th Avenue

Kings County, California (May 7, 2021) – One person died and two others hospitalized after being involved in a traffic collision Thursday afternoon in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly accident involving a big rig took place on State Route Highway 198 near 28th Avenue at about 2:45 p.m.
The crash happened when a Ford pickup truck, with two field workers, traveling on a dirt road attempted to get onto the highway and pulled out in front of the westbound big rig. In the process, the two vehicles crashed in the afternoon hours. Due to the impact, the pickup operator was ejected from the car and was run over by the truck.
Sadly, the ejected motorist died in the accident. His passenger sustained critical injuries and was flown to the Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The operator of the big rig was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
More details about this accident will be released immediately after the CHP completes the investigation.
