Murrieta, California (October 3, 2020) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a passenger who died in a car crash in Murrieta on Thursday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just after 3 a.m. on Jefferson Avenue at the Los Alamos Road intersection.

The Murrieta Police Department said its officers attempted to stop a BMW driver near Jefferson Avenue and Murrieta Hot Springs for a vehicle code violation.

The driver failed to stop and fled northbound on Jefferson Avenue. The motorist failed to stop for a traffic light at the intersection and crashed into a red Honda.

The impact of the crash sent the BMW into the southbound lanes where it collided with a Murrieta Police Department cruiser.

The patrol vehicle rolled over after the collision and an officer had to be extricated before being flown to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.

A passenger in the BMW, who has since been identified as 25-year-old Keshon Manning, of Desert Hot Springs, died at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar while undergoing treatment.

The BMW driver was hospitalized with major injuries.

Two people in the Honda were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

No additional information about the accident was provided.
