San Francisco, California (February 3, 2019) – The two people who were killed early Sunday morning in a wrong-way car crash that also injured nine others in San Francisco have been identified as  Kayla Wilson, 21, of San Jose and Waheedullah Etimad, 40, of Concord, according to the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office.

The deadly accident was reported at around 2:33 a.m. on Highway 101 Freeway near Vermont Street.

According to the CHP, a wrong-way driver, who was believed to have got onto the freeway at the Vermont Street off-ramp, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 when their sedan collided with two vehicles.

The wrong-way driver then hit a minivan driven by Etimad, which traveling northbound on Highway 101, just south of Cesar Chavez Street.

Etimad and the wrong-way driver, Wilson, were killed in the accident.

Six people, who were passengers in the minivan, were injured. One of the patients was in critical condition.

A total of nine people were injured in the incident.

As of 2:40 a.m. all lanes of the northbound Highway 101 freeway were shut down as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The road reopened just after 10:00 a.m.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
