Santa Rosa, California (July 20, 2021) – A man was struck and injured in a Santa Rosa pedestrian accident on Tuesday morning, according to Santa Rosa police.

At around 6:30 a.m., police said Juventino Abarca, 68, was in a motorized wheelchair traveling across Dutton Avenue at Sebastopol Road in the crosswalk when he was hit by a GMC truck that was eastbound on Sebastopol Road and made a right turn on Dutton.

Juventino Abarca Seriously Injured in Santa Rosa Crash

 Abarca was dragged by the truck nearly 60 feet before the driver was waved to stop by a bystander. 

Police said Abarca was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and spoke with the authorities.

Police said impairment was not suspected to be a factor in the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
