Female Pedestrian Hospitalized after Berkeley Crash at Allston Way and Sacramento Street

Berkeley, California (July 20, 2021) – A woman was hit and injured by a police vehicle on Wednesday afternoon in Berkeley, authorities said.
The pedestrian accident occurred at about 4:38 p.m., on July 14, at the intersection of Allston Way and Sacramento Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Berkeley patrol vehicle was facing west at a red light at Allston Way. The woman was hit when the officer turned left onto Sacramento Street when the light turned green.
The woman was injured in the accident and was hospitalized for treatment. She was in the crosswalk when the accident occurred.
Berkeley police said their officer was not on an emergency call when the accident occurred, and the driver was also not intoxicated at the time of the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
