Juan Villa-Real ID’d as Man Killed in Kerman Bicycle Crash at Highway 180 and Shasta

Kerman, California (January 12, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding a bicycle last Wednesday morning near Kerman has been identified as Juan Villa-Real, according to a local news source.
The horrific accident was reported at about 6:00 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 180 and Shasta.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Villa-Real was riding his bike when, for an unknown reason, he was hit by a vehicle near the intersection. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike into bushes on the side of the road as a result of the crash.
The driver involved reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid to Villa-Real. Emergency responders declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver. The suspect vehicle was described as a maroon car which may have front-end damage to the hood, windshield or headlights.
